On the perfect family retreat
I had just signed a new contract with the TN Titans
so I was going through contract negotiations.
Football was going on and it was a very busy time in
our lives.
We wanted to be secluded a little bit, but we wanted
to have a lot of space, I guess you could say, for
the kids to play and for us just to have our
privacy. We wanted to have all the amenities that
you could have in a house so we didn’t have to go
places to enjoy ourselves. Such as having a swimming
pool and a game room and a theater and stuff where
we could enjoy our house and not have to go out and
enjoy those things very often. So far so good. We’re
enjoying our house and loving it. It’s great!
We did a couple of balconies with BBQs upstairs and
downstairs, so we could entertain if we wanted. We
created a big kitchen because I love to cook. I
usually cook most of the meals around here. We
wanted to have plenty of space in areas where I
could create my masterpieces.
Our cabinet guys were awesome. I went thorough and
pulled pictures from magazines; they just kind of
recreate what they saw in the pictures. They did an
amazing job!
Being from the Seattle area, I’m not used to the hot
and humid area during the heat of the summer. In
order for me to be outside here in the summer, I
needed to have a pool. We created a nice area in the
back where we can cool off and relax in the heat of
the summer.
Hugh was really great about working with us and
doing all the things that we wanted. He really just
did a great job finding people to create and do
things that were maybe a little bit different and
out of the ordinary that most houses don’t have. He
did a good job of working with us and finding the
right people to create and do some of those things
we wanted.
It’s a wonderful house and we plan on living here
most of our lives, or at least until the kids move
off and we have to downsize and move. But it’s all
we ever dreamed of, and we’re enjoying every minute
of it.
